Linda Musgrove Every Business Association and Chamber of Commerce wants to hold a Table Top Expo at some point; the danger for exhibitors participating in these expos is the common inexperience of the organizer who is unaware of the requirements for producing an event that will deliver outstanding results for the exhibitors. Also keep in mind that Business Expos are basically an "Interactive Yellow Pages"; they are not commonly targeted to a particular market - attendees and exhibitors run the gamut and cover a broad spectrum of offerings and needs – like the Yellow Pages! To give you the best opportunity to attain great results at a Table Top Expo, take a look at a few of the: DOs and DON'Ts of Table Top Exhibiting! Do: Take the time to learn about the producer of the event and the type of audience this group attracts to their meetings and functions before registering to exhibit. Do: Take the time to learn how to present yourself in the most effective manner, you will have the competitive advantage – most other exhibitors in this arena are novices! Take advantages of the FREE resources on the TradeShow Teacher site, or call (888) 547-7410 for a FREE consultation and a few tips!Do: Be very direct about the type of prospects you are looking for in your signage DON’T: USE A FISHBOWL to collect Leads! If you see anyone doing this - report them to the TradeShow Teacher IMMEDIATELY! This is the WORST way to collect leads at any type of trade show. These are the most unqualified leads ever to be obtained; UNLESS someone is creating a database - other than that - don't expect to call up the people from the business cards and get business from them!Don't: Use a stack of give-aways to attract prospects; REAL prospects will be interested in your product with or without a promotional item. The people that walk around picking up "give-aways" are called "trick-or treaters" for a good reason! Make attendees at least fill in a contact form or questionnaire before giving away a promotional item to them! Don't: Just show up with a few pieces of collateral to plop down on the table – take the time to plan for this event as if you were exhibiting in a large booth. Consider purchasing a Table Top Display, Table Skirt, Small Banner Stands, etc. Look professional, you will be taken seriously and you will have a better chance of obtaining good results. By following these few simple Dos and Don'ts at your next Table Top Expo you will definitely experience an increase in qualified leads! Good Luck!
